We Provide Local-Genetic Seeds, Bare-Root, and Small Containerized Plants

SEEDS: We sell bulk weight seeds of a variety of native plants for small- and large-scale restoration and landscaping projects (2010 Native Seed List in Left Sidebar). Customized seed mixes are available for natural Habitat-types like Wetlands, Floodplain/Riparian Areas, Prairies, Meadows, and Woodlands. We also provide custom mixes for constructed habitats like Wetland Treatment Systems, Storm Water Basins, Bioswales, Rain Gardens, and Engineered Slopes.

We carefully hand collect and process our seeds to ensure purity, ripeness, and hardiness of each species. Awns and other seed structures that might be beneficial to plant germination and survival are not removed. Seeds are stored dry under low humidity and cool temperatures, free of mildew and insect pests. All seeds are sold dry, unless otherwise requested. We provide cold-stratified (or "activated") seed for spring and early summer plantings, however, advanced notice and 50% upfront deposit is required.

LIVE PLANTS: Select native plants are available as bare roots and plugs during spring, and in a variety of containerized sizes throughout the year (2010 Live Plants List in Left Sidebar). We propagate enough containerized plants to supply our own projects and have extras available for sale starting in spring. If your project needs large amounts of local-ecotype native seeds or plants, we recommend contract growing with us to guarantee your plant materials will be available and delivered on time (More on Contract Growing in Left Sidebar).

Source of Our Local-Genetic Native Plants

Our plant stock originates from approved collection sites and plant rescue operations within a 150-mile radius of the Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area. Our stock is source identified by us and we do not purchase plant materials from other nurseries or individuals. We strive to promote genetic diversity in our production beds by carefully selecting sufficient amounts of native seed from large populations at different sites. This reduces plant inbreeding and promotes hardier and more successful native plants better suited for long-term habitat restoration projects.

We manage a total of 75 acres in Campbell, Pendleton, and Carroll Counties, Kentucky for the production of our local-ecotype plant stock. With native seed production beds in different counties, we are able to grow and provide a wide variety of local-genetic seeds and plants requiring different soils and other ecological factors.
